5 Upcoming Park City Events to Not Miss

I could write a novel on the topic of what to do in Park City in the summer. There are so many fun and entertaining things to do everyday and that is not an exaggeration. However, if I had to pick 5 things I would not miss out on, here’s what I would highly recommend:

  1. Savor the Summit June 22

Enormous outdoor dinner party, Park City style. Tons of fun in the street with multiple Main Street restaurants lining tables along the middle of Main Street. Music, spirits, and excellent food. If you aren’t lucky enough to land a reservation, just walking up and down the street will thoroughly entertain you. Reservations must be made with individual restaurants. 2. 4th of July Celebration for all day family fun. This special day is a blast. Enjoy a pancake breakfast starting at 7 am at City Park. After your carbo load, saunter to the starting line for the annual 5K run, sponsored by Cole Sport. After the run, grab your spot on Main Street or Park Ave to watch our very own, small town, 4th of July parade, which starts at 11 am at the top of Main Street and ends at the Park City Mountain parking lot. Just wait, there’s more. At noon, also at City Park, live music, kids activities, rugby tournament, beer and food. Then I suggest taking a nap, because the fireworks at dusk are quite impressive for a small town like ours. You won’t want to miss them. Insider tips, don’t drive anywhere once you’re in Park City’s Old Town. Walk or ride a bike. All activities are really close together and the traffic can be a bit nuts on this day. You can pre-register for the run at Cole Sport. Parade spectators put out blankets and chairs the night before, seriously.

3. Kimball Arts Festival is August 2-4, on Main Street in Old Town Park City. Juried artists displaying and hopefully, selling, their beautiful art, live music on several stages, food trucks and adult and child friendly beverages. The quality of the art is excellent, yet there are a variety of price points available. The music line up is always entertaining, with a wide assortment of genres. Insider tip: plan on taking public transportation up to Main Street. You can park at Park City High School. Or if you’re coming in from the Salt Lake Valley or near Kimball Jct., take the free bus from there.

4. Park Silly Sunday- Every Sunday (almost, not during the Art Festival or Tour of Utah). Local crafters, live music, entertainment, food trucks. It’s a fun scene for locals, second homeowners, and tourists alike. Channel the Portland Market on a minute scale. For a line up of live music, click on the link below:

5. Tour of Utah- August 12-18, but the final stage, as of this publishing, is set to be in Park City on 8/18 and it is sure to please. This is one of my favorite events all summer long. Thrilling to cyclists and non-cyclists alike. The Tour of Utah is the toughest stage race in the U.S. Watch some of the best professional cyclists in the world compete. The finish line is on Main Street, but exactly where has not been announced yet. Huge screens are available to watch the event live, right out on the street. Such an amazing event! Don’t miss it.
